About

A mortgage broker Northern California families come back to.

Mark Dankman has been originating loans since 1993. He founded Resource Home Loan to fix the problem he watched for three decades: mortgages sold like products instead of taught like the long-term financial decisions they actually are.

Mark Dankman

Mark was born in Sacramento and has lived in the Bay Area for more than 40 years. It's home, and it's the market he has spent his entire career in, from Walnut Creek and the East Bay to Marin, San Francisco, Sonoma, Napa, and back up the corridor to Sacramento.

He started originating loans in 1993 and has worked through every rate environment since: the refinance booms, the 2008 collapse, the post-pandemic runup, and today's market. That length of experience is the reason complicated files, self-employed borrowers, jumbo buyers, and investors with a dozen properties, don't rattle him.

He became a broker to give people a choice. Today, Resource Home Loan works with more than 80 wholesale lenders, from national names to portfolio jumbo shops and DSCR investor lenders most consumers never see, and Mark personally reviews every file that comes through the door.

What he's learned in three decades: the mortgage industry rewards speed and opacity. The clients who do best are the ones who slow down, ask better questions, and work with someone who explains the answers.

What we believe

Four principles that shape every loan we arrange.

Educate first

Every consultation starts with a whiteboard, not a rate sheet. If you don't understand the loan, we haven't done our job.

Independent by design

We're a broker, not a bank. That means access to 80+ wholesale lenders and the ability to walk away from a bad product.

Local underwriting knowledge

Sonoma fire zones, San Francisco condo warrantability, Napa AG properties, Northern California underwriting is its own craft.

Long after closing

We track your loan for the life of it. When rates move, we'll call you. Not the other way around.
